The Hill We Climb

Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman's recitation at the Biden Inauguration moved and inspired me to write music to accompany it. The music is structured not only to support the shape and meaning of the verse, but Gorman's compelling delivery. In essence, she is the rhythm section and the soloist in this rhapsodic work. My intent was to compliment her American eloquence, to create music as grand and proud as I felt as I listened to her on the steps of the Capitol.
